Five Bodies Workshop and Reading, April 2021: ‘On Verticality’ with J. R. Carpenter

J. R. Carpenter

On the Wednesday 14 March 2021, the CPRG was joined by artist, writer, researcher and performer,  J. R. Carpenter, for the fifth session in the Five Bodies critical-creative workshops series, co-ordinated in collaboration with Nottingham Contemporary. On this occasion, Carpenter led a workshop on the concept of ‘Verticality’, encouraging participants not just to think and write vertically but to use their bodies to alter their perspectives on surfaces, depths and stratospheres. We’re grateful to J. R. Carpenter for this radical and reflective session.

The following evening, the associated Five Bodies Reading Series continued with performances from Rowan Evans, Vicky Sparrow and J. R. Carpenter. The reading was chaired by CPRG member Jack Thacker and hosted by Nottingham Contemporary. Thank you to the poets to everyone else involved in this event. You can now watch their readings in full here, via Nottingham Contemporary’s YouTube channel.
